Know about Cancer !! A dreadful disease

Cancer in short is nothin but a class of diseases which are caused due to abnoral growth of cell. There are more than 100 types of Cancers which are classified according to the type of cell which it attacks. When the cells in the body divide uncontrollably, they lead to formation of Tumors i.e. mass of tissues. Tumors releases hormones which alters body functions and interferes with digestive, circulatory, nervous systems.

When does an Tumor occur ?

1. Invasion - a cancerous cell manages to move throughout the body using the blood or lymph systems, destroying healthy tissue in a process called Invasion.

2. Angiogenesisa - the cancerous cell manages to divide and grow, making new blood vessels to feed itself is a process called Angiogenesisa.
Cancer is caused when cells that grow uncontrollably and do not die. Generally, cells in a normal body grow, divide and die. When the above said process breaks down, Cancer begins. Cancer cells do not die instead they continue to grow and divide. When this continues leads to a accumulation of abnormal cells that grows out of control.

Cancer causes about 13% of all deaths in the world.

Cancer in Control. .

Chemotherapy drugs slow cancer growth says a recent study from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Chemotherapy drugs are being used for many years to treat Cancer. But recently a research team lead by Gregg L. Semenza (director of the vascular program at the Johns Hopkins Institute for Cell Engineering) have revealed how Chemotherapy drugs work in treating Cancer.

More than 3,000 FDA-approved drugs were used for testing by the team. They found that a drug by the name Daunorubicin reduced HIF-1's gene-activating ability by more than 99 percent. For further analysis, the team grew tumors in mice from human prostate cancer cells. They treated these mice with Daunorubicin, Doxorubicin or Saline once a day for 5 days and measured tumor size. They found that tumors in saline-treated mice nearly doubled in size in that time, whereas tumors in the drug-treated mice stayed the same size or became smaller.

Morning Heart Attacks...why????

We would have heard about so many people who are being admitted in the hospitals because of heart attacks especially in the morning.Generally heart attacks and paralytic attacks are taking place only in the morning. This is because of blood clot or blockage of blood in the heart.

Washington’s Emory University has found that during early morning the veins function slowly which is one of the reasons for heart attacks in the morning.

Endothelial cells
acts as the bridge between blood and arteries. Arteries are blood vessels which helps in the purifying of blood. It also avoids blood clots.

During early morning arteries function slowly and hence causes heart attacks and paralytic attacks

Indian Flag On The Moon

The Indian flag is all set to mark its presence on the lunar surface for the first time on Friday as a moon probe with the tri-colour painted on it will detach from Chandrayaan-1 and descend onto the earth's natural satellite.

The 375 mm x 375 mm x 470 mm MIP is a honeycomb structure housing the subsystems and three instruments - radar altimeter, video imaging system and mass spectrometer. It weighs 35 kg.
"The Moon Impact Probe is expected to be detached (from Chandrayaan-1) at around 10 PM tomorrow," Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) spokesperson S Satish told PTI.Miniature Indian flags are painted on four sides of MIP.
"It will signify the entry of India on Moon," Satish said."During its 20-minute descent to the moon's surface, MIP will take pictures and transmit these back to the ground," he said.

MIP is one of the 11 scientific instruments (payloads) onboard Chandrayaan-1, India's first unmanned spacecraft mission to Moon launched on October 22.

The spacecraft yesterday reached its final orbital home, about 100 kms over the moon surface after ISRO scientists successfully carried out the last critical orbit lowering operation.

Developed by ISRO's Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre of Thiruvananthapuram, the primary objective of MIP is to demonstrate the technologies required for landing a probe at the desired location on the moon.

The probe will help qualify some of the technologies related to future soft landing missions. This apart, scientific exploration of the moon at close distance is also intended using MIP.

Mukesh Ambani- Richest Man In India

Forbes, an American publishing and media company said in its annual rich list that Reliance Industries Mukesh Ambani has overtaken NRI steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal as the Richest Indian in the world.

Mittal, who has moved to second position with a net worth of USD 20.5 billion (rpt) USD 20.5 billion, is followed by Mukesh's younger brother Anil Ambani, whose wealth stood at USD 12.5 billion.Telecom czar Sunil Mittal and realtor K P Singh are ranked fourth and fifth with net worth of USD 7.9 billion and USD 7.8 billion, respectively.

The magazine said that the combined net worth of India's 40 richest has declined by 60% due to weak stock markets and depreciating rupee against the greenback.
"These are painful times for India's tycoons. The country's once soaring stock market fell 48 per cent the past year, the rupee depreciated 24 per cent against the dollar, and GDP growth is expected to slow by at least a percentage point, in part owing to double-digit inflation," Forbes Asia said in a statement.
While all 40 tycoons listed last year were billionaires, only 27 have 10-figure net worths now. A net worth of 760 million dollar was needed to make to the list this year, 840 million dollar less than last year.
The list says the major loser was property tycoon Ramesh Chandra, whose net worth dropped by 91 per cent to USD 1 billion.

If Only I Could Know If Its Sunlight Or Moonlight

The magnificient sunrise, the dark forests, the deep blue lakes, the twinkling stars,birds,bees.... What man is he who has not stopped awhile to savour these? But just for one fleeting moment have we ever paused to thank god for the gift of eyes that made it possible for us to relish his creation? And have we spared a thought for those not so fortunate as we?

Do you know india has 15 million blind of which 34.7% have corneal blindness. Most of these can have their eyesight restored through simple surgery- corneal transplantation. Due to lack of donors, thousand in india have to wait for years in desperation.

All religions commend the spirit of eye donation as a noble way of serving god and humanity. And isn't it a wonderful thought that the loved ones live after death in someone else's body, giving that person the most wonderful gift of sight?

So friends do be a part of noble cause. It costs nothing but means everything to those bereft of the wonderful gift of sight.
